Wilderness First Aid

Course length: 8-36 Hours

Certification expiration: 2 Years

This course is designed to educate anyone that wants to become familiarized with the dangers of outdoor hazards and how to treat most injuries in that type of environment. Designed with the avid outdoor adventurer in mind, the classroom material is informative, and all skills are practiced and tested prior to the final written exam.

  • Bleeding

  • Wounds

  • Bandaging wounds

  • Burns

  • Eyes, ears, nose & tooth injuries

  • Head, brain, and spinal injuries

  • Chest injuries

  • Abdominal & pelvic injuries

  • Bone, joint, & muscle injuries

  • Extremity injury

  • Splinting injuries

  • Poisoning

  • Plant induced dermatitis (Poison ivy/Poison oak)

  • Snake and other reptile bites

  • Insect & anthropoid bites & stings

  • Heat-related injuries

  • Cold-related injuries

  • Altitude sickness

  • Lightning

  • Water related injuries

  • Chest discomfort

  • Respiratory emergencies

  • Nervous system emergencies

  • Abdominal complaints

  • Allergies & anaphylaxis

  • Diabetic emergencies

  • Genitourinary problems

  • Emergency rescues, moves, and prioritizing multiple injured people (triage)

  • Evacuation
